Sealcoating
What is sealcoat?
Sealcoat is a protective liquid layer that is applied over asphalt to aid it´s longevity. It´s like sunscreen or a waterproof jacket for your asphalt!
It offers protection, shielding the surface from sunlight, water, oil and chemicals, all of which can erode the integrity and adhesion of the surface over time.
It restores appearance, giving the surface a fresh, smoother look, much like a coat of fresh paint can do for your walls!
It prevents cracks. By sealing small surface area, sealant prevents bigger cracks from forming.
The sealant itself is made from a mix of something called “bitumen”-a sticky, tar-like substance-water, fine sand and additives that help it stick and dry well.
How often should sealcoating be done?
Sealcoat is typically recommended every 2 to 3 years for most asphalt driveways or parking lots. However, exact timing can vary depending on weather conditions, amount of traffic, and surface condition.
